Thankful Thursday Blog Hop (link)

I'm linking up a "Thankful Thursday" post with Grow Where You're Planted today for a blog hop.  I've been looking for ways to be more consistent with my blog.  I think linking up with other bloggers is a great way for me to do that.  Now, I just need to find link parties that "fit" me.  This one is a great idea!

It's so necessary in our daily lives to take a step back and think about the blessings in our life.  The things that we tend to take for granted, but shouldn't.  The things we are thankful for.  Usually when some big thing happens in our life, we immediately feel SO thankful and we share it with others.  It is all we can think about and we are quick to talk about (and dwell on) this great thing that happened in our lives, this new item in our lives, or whatever the biggy thing might be.

Well, on most days there isn't a BIG thing that happens and we don't get a BIG new item for our enjoyment or to meet a need.  Most of the time it's just same ole, same ole.  Does that mean we shouldn't be thankful on those days?  Of course not!  So, this idea hit me in that way, on this day.  This regular day.  Nothing out of the ordinary happened.  I didn't get any great thing. ;) Actually, I was feeling kind of yucky today.  But my blessings are still all around me.

Let me share. :)  I am SOOOOO thankful TODAY for:

  • Salvation - Everyday my salvation is a blessing to me, because every day God is alive in my life.  But I don't give that blessing the attention that it deserves each day.  For such a gift as this, I should be in constant awe of my great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.  What an ungrateful creation am I to take THIS gift for granted.  But as human nature abounds, my thankfulness lacks the intensity that it should possess.  I am SO very thankful that Jesus died on the cross to pay for my sins (and yours) and that He rose again to give us life everlasting.
  • My husband - We have a really neat love story.  I wrote about it at the beginning of this blog, if you want to read it.  But now, here we are years later, and today is just another day.  Right?  Nope.  Today is a huge blessing, because I got to spend it with my baby.  It was kind of a dull and boring day, for the most part.  But my husband is a wonderful Christian, man, husband, father and step-father!  I love him so much and I'm so thankful for him!  Thankful that God brought us together to live our lives with each other.  We have a great life!
  • Our children - In case you don't know, we have 8 children. Most of them are grown and on their own, but there are still 8 of them.  AND, we have 3 that are married, so that makes it 11 children.  Just because they're grown and living their own lives does not mean that we aren't parents any longer.  :)  I won't say this too loudly, because they may not know it.  But they still need us.  And we are more than happy to be there for them, to help them and love them and (if they allow) be a source of direction in their lives.  I am so thankful for each of our children and our son- and daughters-in-law.

Well, that's enough of a post for today (tomorrow, actually - I'm writing it early).  If you care to "hop" on the band wagon, just grab the logo and then link back to  Grow Where You're Planted.
